DESCRIPTION: Seen as a green, shiny bump between the vein angles on the upper surface of the leaf this tiny gall is caused by a mite. The hairy opening on the underside of the leaf is filled with spiralled hairs and contains the said mites. DISTRIBUTION: Widespread but overall status is difficult to ascertain due to under-recording. HABITAT: On the leaves of various Hornbeam (Carpinus) species.
